Fannie Battle Caroling
A Nashville Tradition Since 1916
Your support of the 92nd season of Fannie Battle Caroling helped raise $47,000! Funds will help us continue our mission of providing affordable high-quality child care, for at-risk children in a nurturing environment while empowering families to reach their potential. On behalf of the children, families, and staff….THANK YOU!!!
Looking for a fun low cost Christmas activity to do with a group?
Go Caroling for Fannie Battle Day Home for Children between Dec. 1-24.
Since 1916, Caroling for Fannie Battle has been a holiday tradition in the greater Nashville community. Each year families, neighbors, churches, schools, companies, and civic groups carol door-to-door throughout greater Nashville collecting money for Fannie Battle Day Home for Children. Below are the steps of how you can become a Fannie Battle Caroler.
In addition to caroling from door-to-door, we also have a choral group of Vanderbilt students that for a minimum donation of $250 will sing carols at our home or office party. To schedule this group please email rmartinez@fanniebattle.org.

This is not a one-time event. Caroling runs from December 1st-24th and is a uniquely Nashville holiday tradition. Each year civic groups, companies, church groups, and families carol from house to house, door to door, for donations on behalf of the Day Home, often requesting the same streets year after year. It is a great way to celebrate the holidays with family and friends, promote neighborhoods, and raise money for a childcare center that provides a valuable service to low income families that are working or furthering their education.
How Do I Become a Fannie Battle Caroler?
- Call the Day Home at (615) 228-6745 or email rmartinez@fanniebattle.org
- Leave your name, number and where you would like to carol. You can even request a specific street or streets.
- A Carol volunteer will contact you to verify the street and make sure it is not already being caroled. A time will be arranged to deliver your caroling bags loaded with everything you need: song sheets, announcement envelopes, and instructions.
- Get your group together, decide which evening you will be caroling, and deliver the letters a few days before the caroling date to let neighbors know you’re coming.
- After you’ve caroled, contact the Carol volunteer to arrange a time for returning your caroling bags and donations.
- Have fun caroling, and make it a yearly event!

Will Blevins, one of our loyal volunteers, got a group together to share in the joy of caroling.

Thank you for giving the gift of yourself and volunteering your time, talents and energy to the 93rd season of Fannie Battle Caroling! The event could not have been a success without the help of you and the many other volunteers and sponsors.

“We’ve been caroling for Fannie Battle as long as I can remember. I used to have the honor, as the youngest child, of ringing the doorbell, and now it’s something my husband enjoys doing with us when we spend Christmas with my family. It’s as much a part of our family tradition as opening stockings together or eating cherry yeast coffee cake on Christmas morning. We look forward to it each year. Even if it’s cold, we still enjoy getting together our group of family and friends, having fun, and raising money for a good cause.” -3rd Generation Fannie Battle Caroler
