Caroling
The 2007 Caroling Season was a tremendous success raising $62,198. Over the past five years, the caroling program has doubled the amount raised from $29,000 in 2003. The growth is due to the hard work of our District Chairs, Carol Leaders, and donors. Thank you for reviving the rich tradition of Caroling for Fannie Battle.
Thank you Carol Co-Chairs ~ Brach Crider and Teresa Neely-White!
Looking for a fun low cost Christmas activity to do with a group?
Go Caroling for Fannie Battle Day Home for Children between Dec. 1-24.
Since 1916, Caroling for Fannie Battle has been a holiday tradition in the greater Nashville community. Each year families, neighbors, churches, schools, companies, and civic groups carol door-to-door throughout greater Nashville collecting money for Fannie Battle Day Home for Children. Below are the steps of how you can become a Fannie Battle Caroler.
In addition to caroling from door-to-door, we also have a choral group of Vanderbilt students that for a minimum donation of $250 will sing carols at our home or office party. To schedule this group please email slonghini@fanniebattle.org..

This is not a one-time event. Caroling runs from December 1st-24th and is a uniquely Nashville holiday tradition. Each year civic groups, companies, church groups, and families carol from house to house, door to door, for donations on behalf of the Day Home, often requesting the same streets year after year. It is a great way to celebrate the holidays with family and friends, promote neighborhoods, and raise money for a childcare center that provides a valuable service to low income families that are working or furthering their education.
How Do I Become a Fannie Battle Caroler?
- Call the Day Home at (615) 228-6745 or email slonghini@fanniebattle.org
- Leave your name, number and where you would like to carol. You can even request a specific street or streets.
- A Carol volunteer will contact you to verify the street and make sure it is not already being caroled. A time will be arranged to deliver your caroling bags loaded with everything you need: song sheets, announcement envelopes, and instructions.
- Get your group together, decide which evening you will be caroling, and deliver the letters a few days before the caroling date to let neighbors know you’re coming.
- After you’ve caroled, contact the Carol volunteer to arrange a time for returning your caroling bags and donations.
- Have fun caroling, and make it a yearly event!

Rather than carol, some companies, groups, and even individuals choose to host a holiday party as an opportunity for guests to make a gift to Fannie Battle.

District Chairs!
District Chairs are essential to the success of the event because they contact and recruit carol group leaders and ensure they have everything they need to carol. Caroling is organized and runs smoothly because of their hard work.
